This is a community building activity for students of all ages. Students will work together to create their own classroom norms and goals. This works really well as a classroom management activity - if they create the rules, they take ownership of them! This lesson utilizes total participation techniques and encourages students to collaborate even on the first day of class!
This works for all ages - the in person option would work even for the littlest learners (see notes at the end of the lesson plan for modifications)
There are two options included an in person lesson plan and a collaborative slides activity for digital learning or schools with 1 to 1 technology. I have done this lesson with approximately 100 classes over the last 8 years.... and I have never had it fail!
